Olivia Rodrigo felt 'so lucky' to work with Chappell Roan and David Byrne
Olivia Rodrigo felt "so lucky" to be able to work with Chappell Roan and David Byrne on the video for her Expectations remix.
The pop star's song features on her latest album You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love but she's reworked the track with Chappell and the new version was released on Friday (16.10.26) along with a promo which is styled around a 1980s games show called The Big Expectations Show. It features Olivia and Chappell with Talking Heads star David playing the host and Olivia's longtime producer Dan Nigro also making a cameo.
Olivia shared stills from the shoot on her Instagram page and wrote: "Expectations featuring @chappellroan is out now!!!!
"I love this song and this vid so much! Chappell is the most incredible person and the most inspiring artist and I am so lucky to be able to learn from her and call her a friend.
"Getting to make art with people you love is the best feeling ever and I cannot thank Chappel, @dan_nigro @amyallen and @bardiazeinali enough for helping bring this vision to life.
"And also huge shoutout to @davidbyrneofficial for the most incredible cameo ever!!! I’ve got big expectations baby!!!!!!"
It was previously reported the collaboration between Olivia and Chappell came about after they connected at Olivia's Daisy Chain Fields festival this summer.
An insider told the newspaper's Bizarre column: "Olivia and Chappell have been friends for a long time through producer and songwriter Dan Nigro, who has been a close collaborator of them both.
"It’s been over a year since Chappell last released music because she’s been taking time away from the spotlight and has quietly been working on new tracks.
"But they reconnected in August at Olivia’s Daisy Chain Fields festival, which they both performed at, and they decided to work together. Chappell loves the message of the song and the version they’ve made together is magic."
It was at Daisy Chain Fields that Chappell realised "how much" she "missed" performing.
The singer hadn’t performed live since May, and her comeback at the all‑women festival clearly reignited something.
Posting on Instagram after the show, she thanked Olivia for inviting her and praised her for using her platform “for good”.
She wrote: "Thank you for having me @daisychainfields ! @oliviarodrigo u r so inspiring in so many ways. We need artists like u who use their platform for good and are such a light in the world.
