Neerabup Industrial Area expansion to begin next month

A major expansion of the Neerabup Industrial Area is set to begin next month, unlocking 41 new industrial lots on Mather Drive.

The City of Wanneroo last week awarded a civil and road infrastructure contract to Dowsing Group Pty Ltd to deliver the works needed to develop the 16.3ha site.

The project will involve the construction of new roads and drainage and the installation of sewerage, water, power, gas and telecommunications infrastructure.

Ranging from 1500sqm to 4600sqm, the green-titled lots will provide sites for future industrial businesses.

Once fully developed, the site is expected to accommodate around 70 businesses and support about 500 jobs.

Wanneroo mayor Linda Aitken said creating more local jobs was one of the most important things the city could do for its growing community.

“We want our residents to have more opportunities to build their careers closer to home, spending less time travelling to work and more time in their local community,” Ms Aitken said.

“By getting this land ready for businesses to establish and grow, we’re investing in the city’s long-term economic future and creating opportunities that will benefit our community for years to come.”

The development of the Neerabup Industrial Area has been a key strategic priority for the city for more than a decade.

To make way for the industrial development, sand and limestone have been progressively extracted from the site north of Flynn Drive to lower the ground level.

In total, the Neerabup Industrial Area covers about 1000 hectares, with most of the land owned by the City of Wanneroo and State Government.

It is expected to become the city’s largest employment centre, with the potential to support up to 30,000 jobs when fully developed.

Construction on the new subdivision is scheduled to begin in October and be completed by the end of 2027.
