All That star Christy Knowings' cause of death revealed
The 46-year-old actress died from cardiac arrest on August 11, with acute hypoxic respiratory failure and status asthmaticus as conditions leading to her passing, and asthma being the underlying cause, according to a death certificate obtained by People.
A family member had told TMZ that Christy was hospitalised four days earlier following an asthma attack and then taken off life support.
Christy’s aunt Tyleah Joseph announced her death on Facebook on August 12.
Following the news, her manager Al Hill told Variety: “Christy was a multi-talented lady.
“Whether it was singing, acting, dancing, she was always creating. Always professional and dedicated to her work.”
Kenan Thompson, 48, led tributes to his All That co-star following her death.
Taking to Instagram on August 13, he posted a shot of Christy, with the caption: "Man this one hit hard!!! Rest well Christy!!! Never could have imagined this day!! Sending so much love to her family!! She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!! Gonna miss you buddy!!!
While Josh Server, 47, another of Christy’s All That co-stars, also wrote on Instagram: "This is such devastating news.
"Christy was a light in every room and was such a kind soul. And Christy was an absolute scene stealer!!!!! Every time we performed she made every one around her better.
"She came in late in our run and never missed a beat. So sad for my whole Nick family. Sending love and prayers to her loved ones. Rest Easy."
Christy joined All That in 1997, and appeared in more than 30 episodes of the comedy show over three seasons.
Away from the Nickelodeon show, Christy appeared in the 2009 film Mother and Child - on which she also has a writing credit.
She also appeared on Sesame Street alongside her twin brother Chris and went on to forge a music career when she released the folk single To the World in 2020.
Christy’s death comes just six months after another All That star, Kianna Underwood, was killed aged 33 in a hit-and-run incident in New York.
