Man dies after multistorey balcony fall in Sydney’s east

A man has been killed in a fall from a balcony as police attempted to gain entry into an apartment in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Officers arrived at a unit complex on Onslow Ave in Elizabeth Bay just before 8am on Sunday as part of “ongoing police investigations”, where they attempted to speak with a 40-year-old man.

Police said a 38-year-old woman inside the unit refused entry to the officers, and as they waited outside they learned a man had fallen from a balcony.

Officers found the 40-year-old man and tried to save him, with paramedics taking over shortly after, but he died at the scene from “critical injuries”.

A crime scene was established by the Inner West Police Area Command critical incident team, and an independent review has been triggered by the Professional Standards Command and the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.
