Edge Early Learning enters voluntary administration as parents reassured of ‘little disruption’

A major childcare provider operating 70 centres across Australia has entered voluntary administration, sparking uncertainty for thousands of families.

Edge Early Learning announced on Wednesday it had appointed KordaMentha as voluntary administrators as the company assesses its financial position.

The childcare provider operates centres across Queensland , South Australia and the ACT .

Despite the financial turmoil, parents have been told it is business as usual for now, with all centres expected to remain open.

“We understand that this news may cause concern, and we want to reassure you that our immediate priority is to ensure the ongoing operation of all centres with as little disruption as possible to children, families, and educators,” the company said in a statement to families.

“At this stage, all centres are expected to continue operating as usual and families should continue to attend their centres.”

The company said the voluntary administrators intended to provide a stable environment for children and families while they worked through the process.

The financial troubles come after the childcare provider faced scrutiny over several serious incidents at its centres.

In July, Edge Early Learning’s Higgins centre in Canberra was shut down and a staff member was sacked following a serious medical incident involving a child.

In September last year, an educator at the company’s Gawler West centre in Adelaide was accused of using her forearm to pin down a child during nap time.
