Nicole Kidman reveals ‘magical’ family secret in candid interview with niece Lucia

Hollywood star Nicole Kidman is currently on the press tour for her highly anticipated movie sequel Practical Magic 2.

During a recent interview alongside her co-star Sandra Bullock, Kidman found herself put on the spot by a surprise interviewer — her niece, Lucia.

The 28-year-old, who is the daughter of Kidman’s sister Antonia, joined the actresses for a fun interview with British fashion and lifestyle publication SheerLuxe, in which she quizzed her aunt about some of their family’s more magical traditions.

The original 1998 film starred Bullock and Kidman as orphaned sisters Gillian and Sally Owens, two witches who attempt to break a deadly family curse that causes any man they fall in love with to die prematurely.

Now, nearly three decades later, the Hollywood stars are reprising their iconic roles for the sequel.

And ahead of its release, Lucia managed to uncover a few of Kidman’s secrets — including the unusual way the women in their family deal with people who upset them.

Kidman gave Bullock a knowing nod, prompting the actress to reply: “Oh, it all makes sense now.”

The Australian actress then revealed her favourite type of spells are love spells — although she has another technique for dealing with people who get on her bad side.

“But if I’m a little bit upset with someone, I will write their name and put it in the freezer,” Kidman admitted.

It turns out the unusual practice has been passed down through generations of Kidman women.

Lucia revealed her grandmother even kept a list of names in the ice-cube section of her freezer.

According to Kidman, the people whose names make it into the freezer are not told about their icy fate and people can eventually come out of the freezer.

Bullock couldn’t resist getting in on the fun, asking: “Is that what happened to me mid-shoot when all of a sudden I went cold? Was I in the freezer?”

Kidman burst out laughing before reassuring her co-star she had never been frozen out.
