Perez Hilton still receiving inpatient care

Perez Hilton's family have confirmed the gossip blogger is still receiving inpatient care three weeks after being hospitalised.

The 48-year-old celebrity gossip blogger - whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr - was hospitalised on August 4 after self-harming in a disturbing TikTok livestream and his relatives have now given an update on his condition explaining he remains under the care of doctors and mental health specialists.

In a post on his website, a message from Hilton's family read: "To everyone who has reached out, checked in, and kept Perez and our family in your thoughts, THANK YOU!

"At this time, Perez remains hospitalized and is receiving the medical care he needs. His treatment is continuing in an inpatient setting under the care of a dedicated team of medical and mental health professionals."

The message went on to explain the blogger's loved ones are going to be keeping his website active while he gets the help he needs, adding: "Perez built PerezHilton.com more than 20 years ago, and it has remained one of the most important parts of his life ever since. Starting this week, his team will begin publishing again, focusing on the day’s biggest stories.

"Whether you have followed Perez from the beginning or only recently started reading, we hope you will continue visiting, reading, and sharing the site. We deeply appreciate your support while Perez focuses on his health and recovery.

"For now, Perez’s health remains the priority as his team keeps the site active and moving forward."

It comes after his sister Barbara Lavandeira revealed the blogger is facing a long journey to get better.

Barbara told New York Post column PageSix: "Mario remains hospitalized and continues to receive medical treatment for his injuries. His physical and mental recovery is going to take a lot of time, but we remain hopeful.

"He has no access to a cell phone, social media or the internet. Everyone’s focus is on helping him recover physically and making sure he receives the mental and emotional care and support he needs ... What I can say is that he has a long road ahead of him, both physically and mentally."

When asked when the star will be able to return home, Barbara added: "We honestly don’t know. His physical and mental recovery is going to take time, and we’re following the guidance of his doctors.

"I don’t want to offer a timeline or make promises about when he might come home. Right now, the most important thing is that he receives the treatment he needs and isn’t rushed through any part of his recovery."
