Police probe alleged sexual assault at Melbourne hotel where Sydney Swans stayed

Several Sydney Swans players were allegedly involved in an incident in Melbourne on Sunday night after their win over Essendon.

The Swans maintained momentum towards finals with a win over the Bombers at MCG but were allegedly involved in an incident at their hotel afterwards.

The Herald Sun reported that as many as eight uniform police officers with clipboards and cameras were seen around the venue on Sunday.

Sydney released a brief statement on Monday afternoon confirming an “alleged incident”.

“The Sydney Swans can confirm several players were involved in an alleged incident in Melbourne last night,” the club said.

“The Swans have notified the AFL and relevant authorities, and cannot provide further comment at this stage.”

Sydney is currently second on the ladder and faces North Melbourne this weekend.
