Police announce $1m reward in search for 4yo Gus Lamont

Police are now offering a $1m reward for information on the disappearance of four-year-old Gus Lamont.

The little boy was reported missing on September 27 last year from his family’s remote Oak Park Station near Yunta, in remote South Australia.

He was last seen playing close to the homestead at around 5pm that evening before vanishing without a trace, sparking what is believed to be the largest search operation in South Australian history.

With the anniversary of his disappearance just days away, Premier Peter Malinauskas has revealed the state will match the largest-ever reward in $1m for information that solves the case.

“I have been frequently updated on SAPol’s ongoing and ever-increasing efforts to find Gus,” he said.

“No resource has been spared, no expense has been denied, no effort has been kept at bay - it has just been constant and relentless.

“It has been an extraordinary team effort and that effort is ongoing.”

Mr Malinauskas said the SA government “stood ready to do anything and everything to assist” the police’s efforts.

Revealing the $1m reward, Mr Malinauskas urged anybody who knows anything that could lead to Gus being located or a conviction being made to come forward.

“If you know something, you’ve got to speak. You’ve got to let South Australia Police know what you know, so they can do justice in the name of Gus,” he said.

Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke, who is leading the probe, said their team was doing “everything it could to reunite Gus with his family”.

“Somebody knows something. We urge anyone who has any information that can assist this information to come forward,” he said.

“Despite one of the largest search operations ever undertaken and one of the most intensive investigations, we are yet to locate Gus.

“There have been 11 separate ground searches done and these have been the most physical, but visible aspects of this investigation - utilising hundreds of resources.
