Window cleaning is one of those household jobs that is easy to ignore until the sunlight hits the glass and highlights every fingerprint, water mark and streak.

For anyone who would rather outsource the task entirely, ECOVACS has a rather clever alternative.

The ECOVACS WINBOT W2 PRO OMNI Window Cleaner Robot is currently available for $588, down from $999, representing a 41 per cent saving in a limited-time deal.

More than 100 shoppers have reportedly bought the robot in the past month, suggesting there is plenty of interest in letting technology tackle one of the less glamorous household chores.

Unlike a traditional window-cleaning setup, the WINBOT W2 PRO OMNI is designed to move across glass surfaces independently, using a combination of sensors, intelligent planning and a wet mop system.

It can be used on indoor windows as well as exterior glass surfaces , giving it a much bigger job description than simply polishing the occasional bathroom mirror.

One of its most interesting features is the multifunctional station. Rather than requiring the robot to remain connected to a nearby power outlet, the station contains a large-capacity lithium battery designed to provide continuous power while cleaning.

ECOVACS says a single charge can deliver up to 110 minutes of use, covering an area of up to 55 square metres.

That could be particularly handy for homes with large windows, glass doors or awkwardly positioned panes where dragging an extension cord around isn’t exactly appealing.

The station also incorporates automatic cable management, winding the cables away to help prevent the dreaded tangle of cords.

It combines the composite safety rope and power cord into one unit , while the station itself doubles as a control panel, charger, stabiliser and storage solution.

For anyone who likes a button rather than an app, six controls are built into the station, including automatic cable take-up, power, start and pause, cleaning mode selection, returning to the starting point and suction cup release.

The cleaning technology is where the WINBOT W2 PRO OMNI gets particularly ambitious.

Its three-nozzle wide-angle spray atomisation system works alongside a wet mop to cover the glass, while an edge-cleaning mode is designed to get closer to the perimeter of the window.
