Jake Stringer confirms Giants exit as he reveals plan for Victoria return

Jake Stringer is expected to join his fourth club, announcing his intentions to exit the Giants in favour of a Victorian rival.

The Giants forward is contracted until the end of next year, but expects his 250th game this weekend against Adelaide to be his last in orange.

“I’ll probably most likely go back to Melbourne, just for family reasons,” Stringer said on Thursday.

“My dad’s been sick throughout this whole year and being away from my two girls back in Melbourne’s been challenging.

“I’m just excited for this last game and … most likely it’ll be my last game,” he said.

“Definitely feel like I’ve got quite a few more years left. But I’ll just get through this weekend, reassess, spend some time with the family, go back home and work it out from there.”

He clarified there had been “no decision or anything like that” on a preferred Victorian destination.

“I’m just looking forward to finishing it off here, enjoying more time with my teammates who I absolutely love, and go from there,” he said.

Stringer played 37 games for the club since joining from Eessnedon at the end of 2024.

He led the Bombers in goalkicking in three of his seven seasons at the club.

Prior to his 123 games at the Bombers he played 89 games for the Western Bulldogs, getting an all-Australian selection in 2015 followed by his only premiership in 2016.
