End of an era as iconic Vinnies Maylands shop to close its doors after 64 years

An era will come to an end in Maylands next week when one of Perth’s longest-running Vinnies shops closes its doors after more than six decades.

The St Vincent de Paul Society WA shop at 46 Eighth Avenue will trade for the final time on August 27, ending 64 years at the Maylands site.

The shop was the second Vinnies store to open in WA, launching in July 1962 when it was managed by women from the Catholic Women’s League.
