Methylamphetamine allegedly found in driver’s McDonald’s McMuffin during WA police stop

A ziplock bag of methylamphetamine was allegedly found nestled among egg, cheese and bacon as police pulled apart a man’s breakfast sandwich during a traffic stop in Western Australia last month.

Footage captured the Broome detectives rummaging through a McDonald’s bag, and then pulling out the McMuffin for closer inspection on Salleh St at Cable Beach about 2.10pm on August 20.

They had pulled over the 39-year-old man, who was not known to authorities, and arrested him after searching his car and sniffing out the alleged hiding spot.

“A bag of hot, fresh Chicken Treat was located on the rear floor between the driver’s seat and the passenger seat,” WA Police Senior Constable Ben Lucas alleges.

“That bag was found to contain fresh, hot, lovely smelling Chicken Treat.

“We found approximately three-and-a-half grams of methylamphetamine secreted between the bacon and egg.”

The footage shows the officers shaking the small bag filled with white powder into an evidence bag, and left the McMuffin which had already been partially enjoyed.

He had been on a surveillance mission outside a Kimberley house in relation to an alleged drug crime operation and saw a car pulling up at the home, before a man briefly went inside band then drove away.

The 39-year-old has been charged with one count of possession of a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply.

He is next due to appear before the Derby Magistrates Court on Wednesday week.
