Revealed: The smart home brand with something for everyone - and why you need to invest
Smart home tech is as much about good products as it is about the ecosystem.
Having a different app for every product can get exhausting, and there is something about having matching appliances that scratches a certain itch.
MOVA is a fantastic example of this, with a very extensive range of robotic vacuums, mowers, pool cleaners kitchen appliances and more.
This year, MOVA showcased their latest innovations at IFA in Berlin — and here are a few of my favourite picks.
Every year, we see further refinements in the way that robots interact with the world around them.
From simple bump sensors to computer vision, and now advanced LiDAR with near millimetre accuracy.
These advancements have worked to improve how well household robots can see the world around them — but this year at IFA, Mova is looking to change the way robots feel the world around them.
Mova call it “TactiPercept”, and it works by combining a flexible cushioning type structure with 128 pressure sensors to better understand obstacles.
Depending on what the obstacle is, the robot can then alter its cleaning behaviour to suit.
If it needs to be gentle, it’ll slow down and be a little more cautious, if the obstacle is a wall it’ll be able to get up close and clean into the corner.
I can definitely see how this kind of technology can be adapted into all sorts of different applications, being able to adjust behaviour based on touch feedback is something that I think as humans we kind of take for granted.
It will be very exciting to see how they implement this new sensing technology into their products and what it will mean for the future of robotics.
Robotic lawn mowers are having a bit of a moment right now with quite a few brands breaking onto the scene this year.
What I like about the LiDAX Ultra AWD series is the manouverability with the 360 degree LiDAR and all wheel drive they can climb a 38 degree slope with genuine ease.
