Three Scots College students face court charged with aggravated sexual assault

A group of teenage boys from one of Sydney’s most prestigious schools have suffered “repercussions” following allegations they sexually assaulted a girl in an alleyway, a court was told.

Three Scots College students are accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in an alleyway in Sydney’s eastern suburbs on July 22.

Two of the boys, aged 14 and 13, were charged with aggravated sexual assault in company of others and two counts of aggravated sexual touching of another person.

The other 14-year-old was charged with aggravated sexual assault and a single count of aggravated sexual touching of another person.

Members of the media were issued a warning to comply with the law and by refraining from identifying the boys in any coverage when the matters were briefly mentioned in a Children’s Court on Tuesday morning.

Judge Sue Duncombe said the boys had already suffered “repercussions” as a result of the significant media attention the case has attracted, however she noted the media had a right to be in court and there were no objections to the presence of journalists on Tuesday.

All three matters were adjourned to October 20 when the brief of evidence is due to be served.

The boys are excused from attending court on that date, and their bail is to continue.

The court was told they are all subject to apprehended violence orders.

The boys all attend the prestigious Scots College, one of the city’s oldest boarding schools which racks up annual tuition fees of more than $50,000 per year.

The home of one of the boys was allegedly targeted on August 16, with five boys arrested after police received reports that eggs had been thrown at the house.

All of the boys, aged between 13 and 17, were taken to Surry Hills Police Station.

Four of them were released without charge, while a 17-year-old boy was charged with allegedly breaching bail and custody of a knife in a public place.
