Embattled developer Bathla Group avoids collapse after NSW Supreme Court grants 12-month lifeline

Embattled property developer Bathla Group has been given a massive leg up from the NSW courts, starving off immediate collapse.

Bathla’s administrators, Teneo Australia announced on Friday the NSW Surpreme Court had approved an extension of the convening period for the business.

This 12-month extension will allow the company to complete projects in a bid to stay a float.

Teneo Australia head of financial advisory Stephen Longley said the time will be used to complete work already underway.

“The extension gives us the time needed to progress projects towards completion, but that outcome remains dependent on securing further lender support to maintain critical central functions at Bathla,” he said.

“Locking in this funding is therefore an immediate priority and discussions are continuing.”

The Administrators can convene the second meeting of creditors earlier than 13 September 2027 if the circumstances allow.
