Four men ejected from MCG after fight during wildcard AFL game

Four men were ejected from the MCG following a chaotic fracas in the stands during the thrilling AFL wildcard final between Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs on Friday night.

In footage circulated online, Collingwood fans near the MCG boundary can be seen arguing and shoving each other, with one man trying to hit another with a piece of clothing.

Fans then attempted to swing punches at each other – some trying to land blows over a metal and concrete fence separating different seating sections – before the fight moved further down the stairs.

Security personnel and then police officers can be seen attempting to break up a fight among three men, as shoving continues elsewhere in the crowd.

Police said they spoke to four men at the ground following the incident.

The men, aged 21, 22, 24 and 39, were evicted from the ground and were issued penalty notices for “riotous behaviour”, a police spokesman said.

The Western Bulldogs beat Collingwood by three points when the Magpies’ Tim Membrey missed a set shot after the final siren that would have won the game. His kick went wide and registered a behind.
