WA news LIVE: SpaceX rocket lands in ocean off Christmas Island

Christmas Island locals yesterday woke to an unusual sight, a large rocket belonging to Elon Musk’s SpaceX being towed in by two large ships.

The starship was launched from Texas on July 24 before making a controlled landing in the Indian Ocean days later.

It will remain off the northern coast of the WA island until it’s retrieved by SpaceX.

“The thing that struck me the most was just how big it was, it’s enormous, 50-something metres long, but it’s not until you see it floating out their in the water behind a ship, and it looks big,” he told 9 News Perth.
