‘I’m a good boy’: Man’s wild claim after allegedly smashing into BMW in North Manly
A man has made a wild claim after allegedly crashing into a parked BMW while drunk on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Police were called to Oatway Parade at North Manly just before 11pm on Monday after reports of a Mazda smashing into a parked BMW.
Officers arrested the man before taking him to Manly Police Station, where he allegedly returned an alcohol reading of 0.28.
Footage of the arrest showed the man repeatedly denying he had been driving.
He allegedly reported an earlier roadside breath test reading of 0.297.
Footage allegedly showed officers removing what appeared to be a wad of cash from the man’s pocket during a search.
An empty bottle of whisky was allegedly visible on the front passenger seat of the Mazda.
As he was placed under arrest, the man allegedly continued questioning officers.
“Why can’t you get arrested for nothing? Can I get arrested for nothing?” he said.
He was charged with driving a vehicle with a high-range prescribed concentration of alcohol, and had his license immediately suspended.
The 31-year-old is due to appear before Manly Local Court at a later date.
