Belle and Sebastian: UK band hosts impromptu singalong at Perth’s Langley Park after Thursday show cancelled

Scottish indie pop band Belle and Sebastian held an impromptu concert at Langley Park on Thursday night after being forced to cancel their first of two shows at Astor Theatre.

The touring band’s promoter blamed “freight delays from the East Coast affecting critical equipment” for the decision to pull out, with another live performance scheduled for tonight.

“We were looking forward to a great first night in Perth, but despite exploring all potential solutions, we couldn’t make it happen,” the band said.

While ticket holders were offered full refunds for Thursday’s cancelled show, the band — who are celebrating their 30th Anniversary Tour — refused to abandon their Perth fans altogether.

Frontman Stuart Murdoch put a call out on social media inviting them to the CBD foreshore for a park concert, and to bring their guitars, offering to “chat and play a couple of tunes”, as well as sign merchandise.
