Aussie woman has bone-breaking procedure for smaller waist

An Australian Only Fans content creator travelled to Bali to have her ribs surgically broken to achieve a smaller waistline.

Matilda Baxter, 23, was invited by a Balinese “snatch-waist” business to join an influencer trip to Indonesia for the controversial surgery two months ago.

“It’s absurd, it’s extreme, like look at me,” she told A Current Affair.

“As much as I sit here, and I have had a lot of work done, if I could go back to the start, I wish I had waited.”

Ms Baxter has spent thousands of dollars on cosmetic surgery including breast augmentation and liposuction.

“I paid for this body so why not show it off,” she said in a social media post.

She told A Current Affair a lot of people did not understand that with content creation she was her own investment.

Plastic surgeon Dr Justin Perron is trained to perform the rib contouring procedure in Australia and said while it did seem extreme, other procedures were more invasive.

He told A Current Affair the procedure was usually used for patients with scoliosis or for gender-affirming surgery.

“I think the images that people post online of you know over-glamorising any kind of surgery or over-glamorising any aspect of life needs to be properly filtered by parents or obviously viewing settings,” he said.

Neuropsychologist Susan Rossell told the program she could not overemphasise the risks of social media for youth and people with eating disorders and body image.

“Young people’s brains are particularly vulnerable to making comparisons to themselves while they’re developing their self identity,” she said.
