What downturn? Two Rich Listers offer Point Piper homes for about $90m each
The rest of Sydney is in a property downturn, but the rarified world of Point Piper marches to its own beat as two vendors this week ask as much as $90 million for their homes.
Rich Lister and luxury car importer Neville Crichton and his stylist wife, Nadi Hasandedic , have put their waterfront Point Piper mansion on the market with price hopes of $85 million to $90 million.
It’s understood the couple are downsizing, having paid a reported figure of about $50 million for a penthouse elsewhere in Sydney’s east.
Crichton purchased the half-completed Point Piper home on the site for $39 million in 2017 from medical entrepreneur Glenn Haifer , records show. The new owner will be neighbours with former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull .
The Haifer family bought the 1935-built, Mediterranean-inspired residence for $13.5 million in 2012. Approved DA plans lodged with council from 2013 to 2015 reveal alterations and additions to the existing dwelling, a new pool and boatshed, an extension of the basement level and reconfigured floor plan, along with landscaping.
Crichton and Hasandedic enlisted Blainey North and her team to reimagine the property into a multi-level, five-bedroom, seven-bathroom abode with design notes inspired by the French Riviera. Curves, arches and a grand staircase adorn the interiors.
Entertainment and leisure zones include a harbourfront lounge, bar, cinema and gym.
Crichton is well versed in buying and selling property in prized Point Piper . His run of high-end deals began in 2016 when he sold his mansion, Portofino, for $60.66 million.
By the time that deal settled the following year, Crichton bought another waterfront house in the suburb for $33 million from Karyn Zamel , the wife of mining engineer Gary Zamel . By late 2017, just months after taking the keys, Crichton sold the home in an off-market deal for $36 million to property investor Andrew Potter .
Crichton has an estimated wealth of $1.13 billion according to The Australian Financial Review’s 2026 Rich List . Hasandedic is a stylist and was a former boutique director at Christian Dior.
Property tycoon and fellow Rich Lister Robert Magid and his wife, Ruth , this week also listed their Point Piper mansion with a price guide of $85 million.
The five-bedroom, five-bathroom abode was bought by the couple for $7.35 million in 1998 after they reportedly managed to top the interest shown by Star Wars director George Lucas. It has since been refurbished.
The property is also on the site of one of Sydney’s best known landmarks, Paradis Sur Mer, where late socialite Lady Susan Renouf once lived.
Ken Jacobs and Martin Ross of Forbes Global Properties are selling Crichton’s Point Piper mansion, while Pillinger’s Brad Pillinger and Michael Pallier of Sydney Sotheby’s International Realty are selling the Magid family’s home.
