The chopper crashed on a pastoral property west of Broken Hill about 2.15pm on Saturday.
The pilot, a 51-year-old man, was the only person in the helicopter at the time of the crash and died at the scene.
SA Police Major Crash Investigators went to the property where investigations are ongoing.
Australian Transport Safety Board (ATSB), and the Australian Sport Rotorcraft Association (ASRA) have both been notified.
