Goldfield & Banks has bottled Australia’s most iconic landscapes in five seriously chic luxury candles
Australia has inspired countless postcards, travel guides and coffee-table books, but Goldfield & Banks has found another way to capture the country by way of scent.
The Australian luxury fragrance house has launched its first global Candle Collection, translating five distinctive landscapes into a series of sculptural scented candles designed to bring a little of the Australian outdoors into the home.
Founded in Sydney by Dimitri Weber, Goldfield & Banks is known for its perfumery-led approach to Australia’s landscapes and native botanicals.
The new collection extends that philosophy beyond fine fragrance, with five candles inspired by the light, atmosphere and memories associated with different parts of the country.
Like tropical rainforests after rainfall, sun-baked Western Australian earth, salty coastal air, warm Queensland evenings and crisp winter mornings in the Southern Highlands.
The five scents are Under the Raintree, Land of Gold, Vitamin Sea, Wild Flame and Winter Sun.
Each takes a different olfactory route through Australia, creating a collection that feels less like a scented road trip around the country.
Under the Raintree is inspired by the stillness of Far North Queensland’s tropical rainforests following rainfall. Its woody-musky profile is designed to evoke the damp, atmospheric character of the landscape.
Land of Gold heads west, drawing inspiration from the sunburnt earth , dry woods and golden light of Western Australia. The woody-spicy fragrance is the warmest, earthier interpretation in the collection.
For something fresher, Vitamin Sea captures the idea of a sparkling Australian coastline , with a fresh floral-woody fragrance inspired by salt air and seemingly endless ocean horizons.
Wild Flame turns the temperature up, taking inspiration from a tropical Queensland evening. Its rich chypre-woody profile reflects the warmth, smoke and glow associated with the landscape after dark.
Then there is Winter Sun, a soft floral-green scent inspired by crisp mornings and golden winter light in the Southern Highlands. It is the collection’s cooler, brighter interpretation of the Australian landscape.
The candles have been developed with the same attention to perfumery found across Goldfield & Banks’ fragrance collection. Created in collaboration with fragrance houses Givaudan and Robertet, each composition features top, heart and dry-down notes designed to evolve throughout the burn.
The presentation is equally considered. Each 240g candle is hand-poured in France using premium wax and housed in a sculptural ceramic vessel finished with refined gold detailing.
