Western Australia Police officer charged over assault on newborn child
A police officer has been stood down after being charged with allegedly assaulting his newborn child.
The 30-year-old Western Australian policeman was charged over an alleged attack on his five-week-old baby on Sunday.
Child Abuse Squad detectives charged the officer with aggravated common assault.
The man will face Midland Magistrates Court in suburban Perth on Thursday.
