Outer Banks star Chase Stokes struggled with pressures of fame

The 33-year-old actor shot to stardom playing John B. in Outer Banks, the hit Netflix series, and Chase admits that he initially struggled to deal with the pressures of fame and success.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Chase recalled: "I’m taking my dog for a walk back in Los Angeles, and he’s taking a s*** on the side of the street and a TMZ tour bus is stopped next to me and is just taking photos of me."

Chase also remembered the struggles he experienced while shooting season two of Outer Banks in downtown Charleston.

The actor shared: "It’s not like you have one or two paparazzi who are just there; you have hundreds of people across the way that are screaming while you’re in the middle of a take.

"You have the Charleston Police Department that has to come out and do crowd control to make sure that we’re able to actually shoot in the locations that we’re paying for."

Chase dated Madelyn Cline, his Outer Banks co-star, in 2020 and 2021, and he previously admitted that working with his ex-girlfriend was a complicated experience.

However, the actor stressed that they both managed to prioritise Outer Banks, over their own issues.

Chase - who plays Madelyn's on-screen love interest on the show - told InStyle in 2024: "I think when you have so many incredible people around both of us and you have such a shared love for something, I can't imagine a world where we would disassociate.

"Maddie and I have really always made it a point that this show and these characters are components of our life that changed everything for us. …If we were not to honour that, we would be dishonouring ourselves and a lot of people who have invested into this show and these characters.

"Although things change and life takes different shapes and forms, one thing that's always stood true for her and I is that the show is our first love."
