Swans head coach Dean Cox breaks silence amid club ‘sexual assault’ investigation

Sydney Swans head coach Dean Cox has broken his silence following the sensational revelation Victoria Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault said to have been committed by members of his playing group at a hotel in Melbourne.

As he arrived at Swans HQ on Tuesday morning, Cox said the club was “working (its) way through everything with the AFL and relevant parties” after he was asked whether players would face sanctions.

When asked if he had spoken to the players alleged to have been involved in the incident, Mr Cox said the club would “speak as the day unfolds”.

On Monday afternoon, Victoria Police said they were actively investigating “a report of a sexual assault” said to have taken place at the Pullman Hotel in East Melbourne early on Monday morning.

“The exact circumstances are yet to be established and the investigation into the incident remains ongoing,” police said.
