McLeod’s Daughters star Simmone Jade Mackinnon’s missing sister found dead at Tamborine Mountain, Queensland

A day after McLeod’s Daughters star Simmone Jade Mackinnon made a desperate plea to find her missing sister , police have confirmed the death of a woman.

Mackinnon took to social media on Monday to appeal for help finding her 51-year-old sister Kym, who was last seen on Guanaba Rd at Tamborine Mountain in the Gold Coast hinterland, Queensland .

Kym was described as being 165cm tall, with a very slim build and dark brown eyes and hair.

The date and time she was last seen was not included in Mackinnon’s appeal.

Kym’s daughter also turned to social media , sharing an old family photograph alongside an emotional plea for information about her missing mother and asking anyone who had seen or heard from her in the previous two weeks to come forward.

A friend separately appealed for information on social media, writing: “Have you seen my friend? Missing since 7th August.” Queensland Police confirmed on Monday they were investigating a missing person report at Tamborine Mountain.

But tragically a day later, Queensland Police confirmed the death of a woman in the area was not being treated as suspicious.

“Police will prepare a report for the Coroner following the non-suspicious death of a woman at Tamborine Mountain,” a police spokesperson said.

Best known to Australian audiences as Stevie Hall in McLeod’s Daughters , Mackinnon joined the long-running drama in its third season, which went on to run for nine years and won eight Logie Awards.

Earlier in her career, the Mount Isa-born actress played Allie Reese in Baywatch Hawaii, where she met future Hollywood star Jason Momoa. The pair dated from 2004 until 2006 and became engaged during their relationship.

After stepping away from acting for several years, she recently returned to television screens to win the adventure reality series The Summit.
