Bali venue bans popular birthday decoration after balloon blamed for Chez Gado Gado fire

Bali venues have started banning a popular birthday decoration just days after after a well-known Seminyak restaurant was completely destroyed by a terrifying fire.

Chez Gado Gado went up in flames just after 7.30pm on Sunday, forcing diners to run for their lives as the restaurant erupted into an inferno.

While authorities have not yet revealed an official cause, witnesses claim a group was celebrating a birthday party when one of their balloons exploded into a “fireball”.

Hydrogen is often used to fill balloons in Bali as it is a cheaper alternative.

Following the devastating fire, Mataraz Villas announced balloons would be banned in its accommodation.
