Telstra suspends Swans players from brand ambassador program
Telstra has stood down Sydney Swans from the telecommunication giant’s brand ambassador program following the suspension of five players for breaches of club behaviour and standards in Melbourne on Sunday night.
“We are deeply concerned by what’s been reported and respect the matter is currently being investigated,” the company said in a statement.
“[Those players] who are also Telstra Ambassadors are not participating in any ambassador activity while the investigation is ongoing. We will review their ambassador arrangements once the investigation is complete and will provide an update at that time.”
Five Swans players – Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, Nick Blakey, Riley Bice and James Jordon – were suspended by the club for the remainder of the season on Wednesday morning.
Heeney is a national brand ambassador for Telstra. Warner also lists Telstra among his sponsors on social media.
