Rosie O'Donnell thanks Donald Trump for making her 're-famous'

Rosie O'Donnell has jokingly thanked Donald Trump for making her "re-famous".

The 64-year-old comedian has been locked in a war of words with the US president for several years, and she even relocated to Ireland after he was elected for a second time.

During her current guest hosting stint on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she said on Tuesday's (18.08.26) episode: "This has been kind of a strange experience for me because all of a sudden I’m re-famous.

“I’m back in the spotlight, all thanks to President Oompa J. Loompa, who is watching us this evening from inside a catering cart.

"You know, I couldn’t have done it without you, sweetie. You brought me back! Just like you did with fascism and the measles!”

Later in her opening monologue, she referenced Trump's claim that the Strait of Hormuz is now a US territory.

She quipped: "We also learned today – that the United States could be acquiring some new land soon.

"Velveeto Corleone was up bright and early at 7 AM this morning to post an image of a map – listing the Strait of Hormuz as a US Territory. Which makes literally no sense.

“I’ll put it this way: if the US is in charge of the strait, then I’m also straight. And let’s face it, I’m not. The moronothon continues!”

Last week, Rosie admitted she can't understand why his "obvious criminal behaviour" hasn't proven to be a turn off for voters.

She said on The Tangle podcast: "I can’t think of anyone else in my life who supports him, and I don’t understand the people who do. His cruelty is so blatant. His criminal behaviour is so obvious. His misogyny, his racism, his homophobia. He’s just a very dark spirit, and I don’t know why that’s not obvious to the world.”

Rosie relocated to Ireland after Trump was elected president again, and she's been relieved to find she has a lot of support over there.

She said: “I mean, I think it’s obvious outside of the U.S. because, in Ireland, not one person has said to me that they like him.

“People come over to me and go, ‘Rosie, I’d like to buy you a pint cause we hate him, too.’ And I’m like, ‘Fantastic.’”
