Horror head-on crash leaves one woman dead, another seriously injured at Daveyston, South Australia

A horror head-on crash has left one woman dead and another seriously injured north of Adelaide, with the frantic final moments before impact caught on camera.

Footage showed a white SUV travelling on the wrong side of the Sturt Highway at Daveyston, in the Barossa Valley, towards oncoming traffic around 8.25am on Tuesday.

Incredibly, a 32-year-old woman behind the wheel of a blue Toyota involved in the crash survived.

Another driver told 7NEWS of her close call a short time earlier at Nuriootpa, at least 10km from where the crash happened.

“I was in the right lane, they were in the right lane just in the wrong direction,” witness Julia Dorrestyn said.

“I had a last minute panic, I beeped the horn and then I had to hit the brakes and pull in behind a truck beside me to get out of the way,” she said.

Witnesses reported stopping at the devastating scene to help before paramedics arrived.

“We had people that had run in to go help and try and help pull people that injured themselves,” Dorrestyn said.
