Man arrested over suspicious death of Port Macquarie woman Megan Tangye

A man has been arrested following an extensive investigation into the suspicious death of Port Macquarie woman Megan Tangye.

Ms Tangye, 31, died after she was found suffering multiple injuries at a unit on Gore Street in Port Macquarie on December 27, 2025.

NSW Police announced the arrest on Monday morning and said detectives would provide further details at an 11am media conference.

Emergency services were called to the Gore Street unit about 11.40am with Ms Tangye taken to Port Macquarie Hospital, where she died a short time later.

Police established Strike Force Hazen to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

Following a post-mortem examination, officers said in January they were treating the death as suspicious.

The NSW State Crime Command Homicide Squad later assisted Mid North Coast Police District detectives with the investigation.

Mid North Coast Police District Crime Manager Detective Inspector Mark Rogers said in January the nature of Ms Tangye’s injuries formed part of detectives’ suspicions surrounding her death.

“There’s a number of inquiries we’ll keep an open mind about,” Detective Inspector Rogers said at the time.

Ms Tangye’s half-brothers ex-partner, Erin Reneye previously described her as “a beautiful soul”.

“She lived a beautiful, colourful and interesting life,” Ms Reneye said.

“She was insightful, she was creative, she was kind. She didn’t have a bad bone in her body.”
