Alanis Morissette accuses tour manager of 'blackmail campaign'

Alanis Morissette has accused her former tour manager of a "blackmail campaign" to make her sign a 15-year contract.

The Ironic hitmaker is taking legal action against Keren Urinov, accusing her of making "extortionate" threats to falsely implicate her in allegations of airport drug possession and tricking.

As reported by Rolling Stone, the lawsuit - which was filed on Tuesday (01.09.26) in Los Angeles federal court - reads: "Plaintiff Alanis Morissette is the victim of a calculated blackmail campaign orchestrated by a disgruntled former tour manager.

"Morissette will not agree to work with an incompetent blackmailer for the next fifteen years or pay her a ransom under the gun.”

She is suing Urinov for civil extortion, fraud and negligent misrepresentation.

In the six-page filing, it's claimed that tour manager Urinov was flagged and detained at a UK airport last year during a trip with Morissette and her team for a show in Spain.

According to the lawsuit, she later told the singer that she had been arrested by British authorities, who issued a seizure notice claiming her bag contained marijuana and xylazine.

It's claimed she told border officers the bag and its contents were hers, and showed them an Israeli medical marijuana license before being released.

The lawsuit continues by claiming she was then detained in Spain, and again told officials that the bag and drugs were hers.

However, Morissette has alleged that after the end of the tour, Urinov and her lawyer sent her series of "increasingly extortionate" letters.

It's alleged that she demanded Morissette say the drugs were hers, or face a lawsuit.

Urinov is accused of telling the singer she could put "an end to the matter" in exchange for a contract for 15-years full-time employment, including significant compensation, annual raises and bonuses, as well as hiring an immigration lawyer for the tour manager.

She refused the "braze demands", but Morissette has claimed Urinov responded with a letter suggesting she would accuse her of drug trafficking.

The singer has now "reluctantly" filed her own lawsuit but feels like she had "no choice", expecting "attacks on her character" to follow.
