Man charged with attempted murder after dramatic Narangba siege

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a tense stand off with police spanning several hours.

On Friday, three days after a 24-year-old man was found in one of Brisbane’s northern suburbs with shotgun wounds, police launched a siege on a home in Narangba.

Neighbours were urged to stay out of the area after officers swooped on the property in Richards Road at 2.32pm.

But it was not until well into the evening that the suspect, a 33-year-old man, surrendered and was placed under arrest.

Reports state officers were forced to bring in a negotiator during the siege, with locals warned to stay well clear.

After finally taking the suspect into custody, he was charged with eight offences, including one count of attempted murder, one count of obstructing police and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

It comes following an incident at about 10.50pm on Tuesday, August 25, when a man was found in Centre Street, Aspley, with two gunshot wounds.

Anybody with information regarding the incident should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, quoting QP2601660878.
