Dunes Beach Resort: New coastal tourism destination prepares to open in Perth’s north
A new luxury coastal resort is set to open in Perth’s northern suburbs this month, with construction of a 38-tent glamping retreat now complete.
Known as Dunes Beach Resort, the tourism destination has been built on the site of the former Quinns Rocks caravan park in Mindarie.
Up to 86 guests will be able to stay at the retreat across the 38 ensuite suites, with five accommodation options available: oceanfront, family, deluxe, accessible and hilltop suites.
A night’s stay in one of the suites will set you back anywhere between $275 and $495 at standard rates.
Alongside its guest stays, the site has a cafe/restaurant named Sandara, which features alfresco dining areas, a lounge bar and function space capable of accommodating up to 240 patrons.
The resort was privately funded and developed by Eco Tourism Pty Ltd, which will also operate the site under a long-term ground lease with the City of Wanneroo.
With practical completion now achieved, Eco Tourism director Russell Percival said the team was excited to welcome its first visitors through the doors ahead of spring.
“We are proud to have designed and built this stunning resort and facilities that offers a place where locals and visitors can relax, connect with nature and enjoy everything this beautiful stretch of coastline has to offer,” Mr Percival said.
“Whether that’s staying overnight, dining in our restaurant Sandara or listening to music in our Spin lounge bar or celebrating a special occasion.”
The land had sat largely vacant since the Quinns Rocks caravan park closed in 2014 before construction on the resort began in July 2025.
The project was formally approved by the WA Planning Commission in September 2024, despite attracting some opposition from the local community.
Wanneroo mayor Linda Aitken said the completion marked an exciting milestone for the city’s visitor economy strategy and she was looking forward to seeing the resort “become part of our vibrant coastal community”.
“Dunes Beach Resort adds a unique accommodation offering to our coastline while creating another place for locals and visitors to discover Wanneroo,” Ms Aitken said.
“It complements the attractions already available in the Quinns Rocks and Mindarie area, supports local jobs and businesses and expands accommodation options in the region.”
