Carlton appoints interim boss Josh Fraser as permanent head coach
Josh Fraser has earnt his inevitable promotion as Carlton’s full-time coach after a fairytale run as the AFL club’s interim boss.
The Carlton board deliberated on Monday following the club’s qualification to the wildcard weekend with a draw against the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.
Fraser is set to sign a multi-year deal, with an official club announcement set to come later this week.
The Blues sat with just one win from nine games before parting ways with head coach Michael Voss, which forced Fraser’s appointment as interim.
He took the side to 10 wins from just his first 13 games, launching the Blues to an unlikely wildcard berth while propelling himself to the top of the list of potential candidates.
He beat out other contenders including St Kildas’s Corey Enright, Fremantle’s Jaymie Graham and Geelong’s James Kelly.
The former ruckman joined the Blues at the start of 2026 from Collingwood, where he was the Pies’ head of development.
The Blues will host Fremantle at Marvel Stadium to round out their home-and-away season this weekend.
