Chaos as 22yo speared in back in 100-person disturbance at Wadeye, NT
A young man has been speared in the back during an enormous disturbance involving about 100 people in the Northern Territory.
Two family groups descended on Wadeye, a small town in the West Daly region, about 11.45pm on Monday.
Police allege “a number of people” in the area were armed with compound bows, metal objects and spears.
During the disturbance, a 22-year-old was struck in the back with a three-pronged spear.
Officers went inside a property to remove the man, who was taken to Wadeye Health Clinic in a serious condition.
A car was also surrounded by members of one of the groups before being set alight near the rear of a property.
“Police have not yet identified the vehicle’s owner,” a statement read.
“Additional officers were recalled to duty to assist with the response and restore order.”
