It may feel as though a new piece of tech launches every day, but some days are bigger than others.

Today (September 17), leading robotics company ECOVACS have launched their brand new flagship robot vacuum, the DEEBOT X12S OmniCyclone.

I’ve been testing the new robot out at home in the lead up to the launch, and my wife’s assessment says it all” “I don’t think our floors have ever been this clean!”

ECOVACS have been pushing the boundaries in home robotics for years now, and their latest flagship robot vacuum is no exception.

The DEEBOT X12S OmniCyclone promises the brand’s deepest clean ever, thanks to a 27cm roller that pushes down hard while scrubbing at 220RPM.

This super scrubbing ability is all about those tough stains in the kitchen.

And, when paired with the FocusJet Stain sprayer that pre-treats the more intense stuff, it really is shaping up to be an aboslute beast.

The hype around this new robot was real so I was very excited to try it out for myself and see if ECOVACS could exceed my expectations again.

Out of the box and into my lounge room was a very familiar experience.

There is an easy to follow Quick Steps guide that I threw to one side and a generous supply of spare filters, some replacement brushes and cleaning solution.

There were a few unique things with the X12S OmniCyclone in terms of setup:

The rest of the setup was pretty stock standard, click through the prompts on the app, connect to the network etc.

The hardest thing about setting up the X12S OmniCyclone ? Picking a name for the robot. We settled on “Turbo”.

Turbo found his way around the house covering and uncovering the roller mop on the transitions between carpeted areas.
