Orelia: Twin in custody after police find brother’s body in backyard of Perth home they shared
A man has been taken into custody after his twin brother’s body was discovered in the backyard of the suburban property they shared.
The horrifying discovery was made by police who were called to a home on Nye Way in Orelia, in Perth ’s south, on Thursday afternoon.
The 29-year-old man’s body was found in the backyard and another male at the home was arrested.
“I can confirm that the men are twins,” Detective Acting Superintendent Jessica Securo said on Friday, adding that there is “no ongoing risk to the wider community”.
“Police are investigating this death as a suspected family violence homicide.”
Police were called to the home about 2.20pm on Thursday after another family member raised the alarm.
“I can confirm that the male did have some obvious injuries, however the exact nature of those injuries I’m unable to go into at this stage,” Securo said.
“I can confirm the body was located in the rear yard of the property,” Securo said.
“I’m not able to go into the exact circumstances as how the body was recovered.”
She said a number of items, including “edged weapons, had been seized and police are now working to determine if they were involved in the man’s death.
The 29-year-old male in custody is in hospital undergoing medical treatment.
Securo said the investigation will be “extensive” and police are likely to remain at the home for several days “examining what has occurred”.
“At this stage our priority is ensuring that the male in custody receives the medical attention and post that we will determine the next course of action,” she said.
