Gordon back in a flash with Wallabies tour on cards

Carter Gordon has been put through his paces on return to Wallabies camp as the injury-hit flyhalf attempts to prove his fitness for November's European tour.

The No.10 broke his leg against Argentina early last month but did not require surgery and was moving freely at Thursday's training in Sydney ahead of Saturday's Test against New Zealand.

It is hoped Gordon, who had established himself as the Wallabies' first-choice playmaker under new coach Les Kiss, will be fit to face England at Twickenham on November 8.

That Test is followed by clashes with Scotland and Wales, before a return to Twickenham for the Nations Championship's inaugural finals weekend.

His progress comes as fellow Queensland Reds flyhalf Tom Lynagh endures more injury pain.

The fellow Test No.10 has been ruled out of Australia A's tour of the USA later this month, understood to be carrying a minor knee issue.

That follows concussion and separate leg injuries that relegated him to less than 20 minutes of Super Rugby Pacific game time last season.

Uncapped Test aspirant Harry McLaughlin-Phillips has replaced Lynagh in the squad that will play the USA Eagles in Nashville on October 24 and New Jersey a week later.

Code-hopper Zac Lomax, tried in the centres for the Western Force in preseason fixtures, has also filled the final spot on the roster and will receive his first taste of international rugby.

Sydney Roosters NRL premiership player Angus Crichton, who will play for the NSW Waratahs next season, was not considered as he rehabilitates a lingering foot injury.

The side will be coached by ACT Brumbies boss Stephen Larkham, with former Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt also joining preparations as an assistant alongside Force mentor Simon Cron.
