Man, 68, ambushed and stabbed from behind while on morning walk in Melbourne
A man has been stabbed after being ambushed from behind in an apparent unprovoked attack while on his morning walk in Melbourne.
The man, 68, was stabbed while walking near Ginifer Railway Station, at the intersection of Mulhall Drive and St Albans Rd in the suburb of St Albans, about 3.20am on Thursday.
He suffered a laceration to his lower back and a stab wound to his shoulder, Victoria Police said.
The injured man managed to contact family who called police before he made his way home and was treated by paramedics.
“At this stage the motivation surrounding the incident is unclear as no demands or exchange or words was involved,” a police spokesman said.
He was wearing dark clothing and was last seen running towards Mulhall Drive in St Albans.
Police urged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
