Perth is in for a drenching to mark the final week of winter, as rain sets in over the metropolitan area on Saturday and a thunderstorm expected later next week.

Up to 7mm of rain is set to fall as the temperature reaches 22C on Saturday afternoon.

The mercury will rise to 20C degrees on Sunday, with a possible shower bringing just 1mm expected.

The beginning of the week will see no rain, with a partly cloudy 19C on Monday.

However, Tuesday will see the start of a rainy few days, as up to 4mm and a 21C maximum on the cards.

Wednesday will see up to a whopping 25mm fall, with the chance of a thunderstorm in the morning and a 20C maximum.

Thursday will bring a shower or two, with up to 4mm expected and just a 19C maximum.

The rain is set to lift on Friday, after a chilly 5C minimum will lift to a partly cloudy 20C.

Perth’s runners will be hanging out for the Sunday forecast, with hopes for mild conditions for the City to Surf on August 30.
