Dockers see off battling Magpies in AFLW
Fremantle have beaten Collingwood by 20 points to get their AFLW season off the mark and condemn the Magpies to an 0-2 start.
The Dockers had a point to prove heading into Sunday's clash at Victoria Park after losing to Port Adelaide, while the Magpies were well-beaten by Richmond first-up.
But after Collingwood kicked the opening point, Fremantle quickly snatched the lead and never looked back, claiming an 8.2 (50) to 4.6 (30) win.
Powerhouse Fremantle ruck Mim Strom was everywhere with 28 disposals, 28 hit-outs, nine clearances, six tackles and a goal.
Gabrielle Newton (26 disposals), Kiara Bowers (26), Aisling McCarthy (25) and Orlagh Lally (24) were also prolific while Bella Smith (three goals) and boom recruit Eden Zanker (two goals) hit the scoreboard.
In her first AFLW game in 682 days after a horror injury run, Collingwood superstar Brianna Davey had 22 disposals, while skipper Ruby Schleicher kicked two goals.
The Dockers snatched an 11-point lead at the first change, then Zanker's first goal since a high-profile trade from Melbourne helped nudge the margin to 16 at halftime.
Fremantle led by 26 at three-quarter time but the Magpies fought it out.
Maisie Nankivell suffered a hamstring injury in a disappointing end to an impressive display down back for Collingwood.
The Dockers next host Carlton while the Pies face another stern test against Hawthorn.
