Wild moment car smashes through Sydney petrol station, narrowly misses pedestrian

A pedestrian has had a lucky escape after a car barrelled through a petrol station in Sydney’s southwest.

The horror incident occurred at a petrol station on Fairford Rd in Padstow about 4.50pm on Friday.

CCTV footage, originally shared on Reddit, shows a white ute entering the petrol station.

Behind the ute was a black sedan, which swerved towards the same petrol station and began spinning out of control as it smashed into a bowser.

A man stood on the footpath as the dark-coloured car barrelled through the petrol station, knocking over a sign and sending dirt flying through the air as the pedestrian ducked for cover.

The dark sedan flew through the air as it smashed into the side of a petrol bowser, coming to a stop in a flurry of dust and debris.

He was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a negative result.

The driver was slapped with a traffic infringement notice for negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm), a $577 fine.
