They’re racing at Randwick on Saturday. These are the horses that will win
1. Felix Majestic has run himself back into form in stronger races and is in a Midway where there doesn’t appear to be a lot of competition for the front. Don’t mind him drawn out a bit as he’s taken 100m or so to wind up out of the gates, if that early part works out for him he’s a big chance to break through. 16. Vexxy is eligible for much easier races but she showed she’s up to this grade already with a slashing fifth in the 1200m Midway a couple of weeks ago. Interesting to see if she can back it up from a much better gate. 3. Dusty Bay reacted really well to being ridden off the speed when scoring at Warwick Farm three runs back. Just fair at Rosehill last time out when he hit the front early in the straight and boxed on well for third. Every chance with the smother draw. 4. Long Legs was expected to fare better when resuming two weeks ago, she may have had some excuses, but a couple got past her late. Better off at this trip, blinkers on, so she could be an improver. How to play it: Felix Majestic to win.
4. Mrs Goldberg was nothing short of dominant in scoring first-up in the Highway two weeks ago. She did have a nice run just ahead of the midfield but you couldn’t be anything but impressed with how she put them away. Similarly drawn and 1200m holds no fears. Hard to beat. 11. Lord Remlap is a promising type unbeaten in three starts including a Highway in April, where he almost threw it away. Barrier is a worry but he’s trialling well and with a bit of luck, he’s a threat. 20. Empress Tsarina stuck to her guns when chasing Mrs Goldberg in her best performance. Draws kindly and she’s an each-way chance. 2. Wayburn is another drawn a shade awkwardly, but he reacted well to being ridden off the pace when scoring at Rosehill five weeks ago. In the mix. How to play it: Mrs Goldberg to win.
9. Scenic Point was heavily backed before being a late scratching at the barriers from a Warwick Farm engagement a few weeks ago. Back to the trials and looked pretty slick. She was a Listed winner last year for the previous stable and on what we’ve seen from her trials she can be a major player. 1. Kimberley Secrets continues to race well in this company. A game second at Rosehill last week when she tried hard to run down Oh Arthur and just failed. She’ll put herself there and give a good sight again. 3. Ernaux comes back 100m from her past few starts which have realised a win and two seconds. Racing well and drawn to get the last shot at them, which is very much her most effective style. 7. Island Dec is resuming from a two-month absence and she’s the type that could blouse them late, as she did at Canterbury two starts ago, with the right sort of run. How to play it: Scenic Point to win.
1. Thebudgiesmugla brings an imposing 2400m record of five from five into this and that makes him tough to beat. Would love a bit more sting out of the ground for him, but he was more than acceptable fresh in the Premiers Cup at 2000m, has a positive racing style and he runs the trip. 2. So You Are has done battle with his now stablemate three times and has a 1-2 record with the Premiers Cup his first “victory” as he ran a handy second.
