The (free) Seniors and Carers Expo returns to Rockingham this spring
The City of Rockingham’s popular Seniors and Carers Expo is returning on Friday October 9 this year, bringing together more than 120 exhibitors, community groups and service providers for a free day full of information, entertainment and connection.
Held at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex from 10am – 2pm, the annual expo has become one of the region’s best events for older adults, carers and their families to access a wide range of services, programs and opportunities – all under the one roof.
The expo serves as a way to connect this integral part of our community with everything from health and wellbeing information, aged care support services and volunteer opportunities, recreational programs and general ways to stay socially connected.
Along with 120 stalls, the day also brings a full program of live entertainment, stage presentations and complimentary activities and refreshments throughout the day to keep this fresh and fun.
MC Christina Morrissey will grace the stage as MC from 10:30am, helping guide attendees through a busy day of performances and presentations.
Whilst the day is full and busy, it is designed to be welcoming, accessible and inclusive. The City of Rockingham aims to provide a dementia-friendly experience, with wheelchair facilities, mobility aids for anyone in need, seating through-out the venue and a quite space for anyone who needs a breather.
Families are also encouraged to come along with grandchildren, with activities and entertainment on offer for the whole family, making it a great way to connect with the Nan and Pop. The intergenerational atmosphere makes the expo a vibrant community event where the whole family can learn about how to best support their loved ones.
To make the most of the program, it’s recommended to arrive at 10am. Be the first to connect with service providers and community organisations that support seniors and carers throughout the region.
Free parking is available at Dowling Street, and a complimentary shuffle service transporting visitors to the venue entrance. ACROD parking will be available at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex car park and public transport services also stop close to the venue.
The Seniors and Carers Expo aim to support the community and create a safe environment for all ages. They’re expecting another banger of a year, helping residents stay connected, informed and engaged.
