Haydn Farrow: Former Scarborough police boss joins City of Stirling’s community safety operation

A former senior sergeant has been recruited by the City of Stirling to oversee its frontline community safety operation.

Haydn Farrow, who has spent the past four years as officer-in-charge of Scarborough police station, started in the role on Monday, bringing 32 years of policing experience to the position.

The city said Mr Farrow would bring extensive local knowledge and a strong leadership background to his new role as community safety operations manager.

His appointment comes after he was named one of three finalists for the metropolitan award at this year’s WA Police Force Recognition of Excellence Awards.

Mr Farrow said he was excited to help strengthen community safety in the local area and had worked closely with the city during his years in policing.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my 17 years with WA Police Force, but I felt it was time for a new challenge that I could really sink my teeth into,” Mr Farrow said.

“I already know the area very well through my police work, including as head of Scarborough police station and Acting Inspector at Mirrabooka Police District, so this opportunity seemed like a great fit.”

He said his background in policing had given him a range of skills he could bring to his new gig.

“I think I bring valuable experience to this role in terms of investigating and managing incidents, understanding local crime trends and leading frontline teams,” Mr Farrow said.

“First and foremost, I want to make sure our teams are visible in the community and in the right places at the right times.”

The city’s 24-7 community patrol service monitors and reports suspicious activity, responds to antisocial behaviour and community disturbances, and conducts regular patrols of crime hotspot areas.

Mayor Mark Irwin said Mr Farrow had been a valuable partner to the city in his previous role at Scarborough police station and welcomed him to WA’s largest local government by population.

“Bringing on someone with Haydn’s level of experience and expertise is a significant win for our community,” Mr Irwin said.

“We know that safety is what matters most to our residents, so I look forward to seeing the impact Haydn can make in this role.”
