Why you need to join nearly half of Aussies on fast NBN 100 plans

Plans with NBN 100 speeds and up have soared in popularity this year, with 47 per cent of Aussies on these zippy internet options.

While the most popular plan used to be NBN 50, it’s only really a few dollars cheaper than both NBN 100 and NBN 500 plans. By spending a little extra per month, you can either double your speeds, or increase them tenfold.

More often than not, internet providers price their NBN 500 plans the same as their NBN 100, so it’s a no-brainer to upgrade your speed tier for faster results. Below we’ve broken down some of the most popular and cheapest NBN 100 and NBN 500 plans currently in the market.

For example, on NBN 50, downloading a program like Photoshop would take around 17 minutes. That comes down to around eight minutes on NBN 100, or just under two minutes on NBN 500. The differences are even bigger for a new release video game, which are now as large as 100GB, if not bigger. Below we’ve added some cheap NBN 50 plans for comparison.

It is worth noting, however, you will need to be on either an FTTP or HFC connection type to be eligible for an NBN 500 plan.
