Busselton grandmother Estelle Ravenscroft, 79, critical in Bali hospital after horrific fall

An Australian grandmother is fighting for life in a Bali hospital after she suffered multiple fractures in a “horrific fall.”

Estelle Ravenscroft, 79, from Busselton, about 220km south of Perth, was holidaying on the Indonesian island when she slipped and fell into an open stairwell.

“A simple lunch at a restaurant and a visit to the ladies bathroom has ended up being a nightmare beyond belief,” her daughter Leonie Walsh stated on GoFundMe.

Her mum lives with osteoporosis and suffered six severe fractures to both her legs during the fall.

“She was given an opioid injection for the pain which caused her to have a terrible reaction where her vitals plummeted and she started convulsing,” Ms Walsh said.

Ms Ravenscroft is currently in an intensive care unit where a medical team realigned both her legs and put them into a traction with weights without painkillers because of her severe reaction.

“Due to the issues with the opioids effecting her heart a full normal general anaesthetic could not be done,” Ms Walsh said.

“ Post surgery, she has had to have two blood transfusions for the amount of blood loss. “

Ms Walsh has created GoFundMe which has raised more than $12,000 to help cover costs for her mum’s surgery and ongoing medical treatment in Bali.
